This time around our sale takes on an inside outside mix of good things that are available for purchase. We are creating a place for all our donated items. A permanent shop located in our building, to allow us to raise funds that are so desperately needed on a continuing basis. So please come out and support the parrots of M.A.R.S. and have fun with us. Please feel free to help us by donating any items at any time. Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary is located at 418 Ocean Ave. in Melbourne Beach
Bird of the week “Clyde” playing like a child in a sand box

Clyde provides all of us many moments of joy here at Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary. He is very attached to another forever member named “Big Bird” a yellow naped amazon. They are the best of friends.
He is also the oldest permanent resident of M.A.R.S. On the picture you see him playing like a child in a sandbox. A big shout out to Clyde!
Up coming events “Founders Day” in Melbourne Beach
March 19, 2009 by LuAnn Apple · 1 Comment

Once again the town of Melbourne Beach celebrates it’s history. The event will be held on Saturday May 2, 2009. This marks 126 years since the town was established. The fun will begin early and last well into the evening. Please check out the website of the town of Melbourne Beach for more information on all activities.
The Melbourne Avian Rescue Sanctuary will be joining in the celebration with a set-up at Ryckman Park. We will be promoting our membership drive, displaying art work by our volunteers, and of course some of our feathered members of M.A.R.S. will be in attendance. Please join us in support for M.A.R.S. and enjoy the event.
Much awaited adoption news and updates
March 6, 2009 by LuAnn Apple · Leave a Comment
Upon realizing the need to get these adoptions started it occurred to me that posting a picture and story of each adoptable bird was of dire importance. So lets begin. I have also been informed that an energy level tag be placed on each bird so that inquiring adoption applicants can get an idea of what is in store in choosing a certain bird from M.A.R.S. for their home. This system seems to work well with canine sites, and can definitely be applied for avians. The scale we use will be from one to ten, with ten being the most active and challenging. Please note that adoption from a rescue is so very different from purchasing a parrot from a pet store, in that we have the opportunity to know things about the birds personalities that would otherwise go unnoticed. Also about their favorite things to play with their food preferences, their bad and good habits. All things necessary to making a good match. So what do you have to say, blog us or send a comment to www.marsparrots.org and let’s get started. Sassy pictured has an energy rating of five, and is good with adults and children. Adoption fee is $675.00
