Such a great story! We just love our goffin cockatoo Whiskey that we were so blessed to find from M.A.R.S. - he sings and dances and is such a wonderful addition to our family. He's very affectionate, gives kisses and loves to be spoiled as much as we love spoiling him! Kathy & Errol

I haven't really paid attention to what feet they use to eat or step up, but you know, now that I think about it, I think Sophie favors one over the other...I'm definitely going to really start paying attention now!!! :) I'm still chuckling to myself that Isabella actually steps up backwards. I think one of the lessons learned here would be having ways to identify your bird...after seeing the ads for lost birds, and only 1 had a band, so how can you give a number if there isn't one, but I suppose a scary thing is that someone could remove that, so I love the idea of being able to say which foot your bird favors as well. I love how this pulled together with so many people wanting to help reunite this bird with his owner...Ma-Tu will have to come back to visit M.A.R.S. some time. Those of you who have visited M.A.R.S. or has parrots knows how wonderful it is that some of them know their own name...no doubt who they are. Lol.

We adopted "Whiskey" in August 2011. He had a reputation as a biter but we discovered that he was mostly bluffing and none of the family has been bitten. He doesn't like to be touched until he decides that he's ready. He will come to you and put his head down and then you can pet him all you want. He stays outside of his cage 99% of the time, playing on his big play stand and running around his cage, which has more perches on the outside than it has on the inside. He loves a variety of toys to rip to shreds. He's also learning to toss a wiffle ball to me from the top of his cage and if I catch it and put it back too quickly, he simply tosses it off the other side of his cage

Adopting "Whiskey" was one of the best decisions we've made.

He's a treasured member of our family and usually the center of attention. He sings and does tricks and loves the applause we give him. His latest trick which he does while sitting on my lap, is to take a paper napkin, rip off a little bit and make a spit ball which he tucks under his wing and pops it out, usually at me. Then, like every good magician, he looks around innocently as if to say, "where did it go?" His record for spitballs is close to 100 at one setting Thanks to MARS for saving this great little bird for us.

It's a wonderful work that you do.
